Canadian Association of Nigerian Lawyers

Welcome to the
Canadian Association of Nigerian Lawyers

About Us

The Canadian Association of Nigerian Lawyers (CANL) is the umbrella organization of Nigerian-Canadian legal professionals across Canada. Membership of CANL extends beyond legal professionals of Nigerian origin: it is open to legal professionals of other backgrounds who identify with CANL’s core values.

CANL was established in 2012 by Nigerian-Canadian lawyers who recognized the need for a platform to unite Nigerian legal professionals in Canada to advance their professional interests and promote inclusivity, equity and justice.

What Our Members Say ...

It is good to see a network of Nigerian Lawyers in Canada, it certainly builds a sense of community for Nigerian Lawyers in Canada. The various programs and CPD sessions organized by CANL are always informative and enlightening. I have had the opportunity of attending some of these sessions and learning from great minds.

Ayomide Akinyemi

With CANL and Quicklaw, a sole practitioner can emphatically become a giant killer. Where else will you get wisdom of over 450+ years of practice experience? CANL of course!  Thank you CANL members….my practice network….my ever ready “law firm partners”…for being there always. Realistically, I wouldn’t have reached this far alone!

Bola Adetunji

CANL as a platform has restored my confidence in pursuing the law practice in Canada as a black immigrant, by organizing CPD’s and other volunteering programs which have availed me the much needed exposure into the workings of the Canadian legal system within and outside the law office.

Azeezat

CANL has assisted my practice tremendously by arranging educative and highly interactive CPD programs that are directly related to my area of practice. My confidence has been boosted in my Solicitor-client relationships. CANL is the voice of Nigerian Lawyers in Canada and in the diaspora.

Folasade Dejifasanya

Attempting to practise law without a dependable network of fellow lawyers is a not an easy task. CANL does not only provide that forum, but facilitates the exchange of ideas and resources aimed at enabling its members to succeed. CANL has been invaluable to both new calls and experienced practitioners alike. I salute you all!
